Frequently Asked Questions
Licensing & Pricing
What do I get if I never subscribe to anything?
Everything TINYpsa does today, forever, plus every bug fix we ever ship. The one-time license is a real purchase, not a rental. No account, no phone-home requirement, no expiry. If we disappeared tomorrow, your TINYpsa keeps working and your data is sitting in an ordinary SQLite file you already own.
What’s the difference between Single and Team Licensing?
Single is 1 user on 1 machine. Team runs on one machine and lets up to 10 people use it from their own browsers over your local network, each with their own sign-in and settings. Same features either way.
Why 10 users? What if my team is bigger?
Honesty first: 10 is not where the software falls over. It’s where we promise the experience stays excellent. You can have as many team members as you like on the roster (owning tickets, being scheduled), and 10 of them can hold sign-ins at a time. Technically the server would keep running with more, but past 10 people the day-to-day starts to dull (more data on every board, everyone seeing everything) and we’d rather cap where we’re proud than sell you a shrug. If you’re a bigger shop and you want TINYpsa anyway, email us. That conversation is exactly the customer input our roadmap runs on.
Can I upgrade from Single to Team later?
Yes. Contact us and you’ll pay the difference between the two licenses at the prices you bought in at, not a penny more.
What exactly does Pro add?
Two things. New features as we build them (the roadmap shows what’s coming), and a person: direct email support, priority bug fixes, and help with setup and configuration, with a 1-business-day response time. Pro covers your whole install, Single or Team, one subscription.
What happens if I cancel Pro?
You keep every feature that shipped while you were subscribed, for good. Cancelling only stops future features and priority support. It never takes away anything you already have. Your data is never touched, every ticket, invoice, and record stays visible and intact. Resubscribe whenever you want to pick up the newer features again.
Is my Pro price locked?
Yes. Whatever price you join at is your price for as long as you stay subscribed, even after the list price rises. Cancel and rejoin later, and the current price applies.
I’ve been on Pro a while. Do I own what I’ve received?
Yes, from day one. Anything released while you’re subscribed is yours to keep permanently, even if you cancel later. There’s no minimum term and no vesting period. Subscribe for a single month and whatever shipped that month stays with you.
How do new features reach me if I don’t want a subscription?
They’re bundled into the next major version (v2 is planned for early 2028). License holders buy major upgrades at a discount and unlock everything shipped since. Two roads to the same features: monthly with Pro, or batched every couple of years.
What happens if my card fails or my renewal hiccups?
Nothing dramatic. There’s a grace period measured in weeks, not hours, and billing problems can never touch your core PSA: tickets, time, invoicing, and your data are part of the license you own, not the subscription. Everything you already have keeps working. The only thing a lapse holds back is brand-new features released after it. If you’re stuck, email us and we’ll take care of you.
Buying, Activating, Moving
What happens when my trial ends?
TINYpsa locks with a friendly screen and your data is untouched. Buy a license, go through the activation, and you’re exactly where you left off. The trial is the full Team-tier product for 30 days, no card required.
How does activation work?
You buy, get a license key by email, then paste it into TINYpsa once. It checks the key online at activation, then quietly re-checks when it happens to be online. Being offline never affects anything. There’s no account to create, and no connection required beyond that first activation.
I got a new computer. Now what?
Four steps, about five minutes.
1. On the old computer, take a fresh backup. Navigate to: Setup > Backup > Back Up Now, pointed at a folder the new computer can reach (a OneDrive or Dropbox folder is perfect). If you already run automatic backups, you have this covered.
2. Free up your license key. Still on the old computer: click ‘Deactivate This Computer’ under Setup > License. If the old computer is dead and you can’t click anything, skip this and email us at Support@mytinypsa.com. We’ll free the key from our side.
3. On the new computer, install TINYpsa and activate with that same key.
4. Bring your data back. Setup > Backup > Restore from a backup, point it at the backup folder from step 1, and restart when asked.
Everything comes back exactly as you left it: tickets, files, branding, sign-ins, everything.
Does TINYpsa need the internet?
Only for the moment of activation and for the optional email features you choose to connect. Everything else runs entirely on your machine and keeps working while you’re offline.
What’s your refund policy?
The 30-day trial exists so you never have to buy blind. If you bought and something’s genuinely wrong that we can’t fix, email us within 14 days and we’ll make it right.
Support
Do one-time license holders get support?
Help with buying, installing, and activating is always free for everyone. Beyond that, the documentation is thorough, and we answer email as time allows, but Pro subscribers come first in the queue.
What does “priority” mean for Pro?
It means at 4:55 on a Friday, the Pro subscriber’s email gets answered first. Guaranteed 1-business-day response for Pro; best effort for everyone else.
Data & Trust
Where does my data live?
Everything lives locally on your own machine, never in the cloud. It is a single SQLite file (data.sqlite) in TINYpsa’s data folder, with your attachments and branding beside it. On Windows you will find it at C:\TINYpsa\data, and on a Mac at /Users/Shared/TINYpsa/data. Both are ordinary folders you can open in File Explorer or Finder, no hidden system directories to hunt through. That folder is left alone when you uninstall, so reinstalling keeps everything, and to start completely fresh you just delete it. Back it up like any other file, or let TINYpsa’s built-in backups do it on a schedule under Setup, Backup, which also warn you if they ever go stale.
What happens to my data if TunedMSP (us, the developer) disappears?
Nothing. The app doesn’t need us to run, the license doesn’t expire, and SQLite is an open format a thousand tools can read. That’s the point of local-first: your business never depends on our uptime, or our existence.
Is there DRM? A license server I depend on?
No DRM. The app validates your key at activation and trusts you from there. An occasional silent re-check never blocks anything, and being offline is always fine. We’d rather build software worth paying for than software that treats you like a suspect.
