Frequently Asked Questions
Licensing & Pricing
What do I get when I buy?
One license, $200, paid once. It runs on one computer, Windows or Mac, and up to 10 people use it from their own browsers over your local network, each with their own sign-in. Every feature is included, from email-to-ticket to Microsoft Bookings client self-scheduling, calendar sync and as many mailboxes as you need. There is nothing to subscribe to. Updates for the major version you bought, bug fixes and new features alike, arrive through the app itself. The license is a real purchase, not a rental. No account, no phone-home requirement, no expiry. If we disappeared tomorrow, your TINYpsa keeps working and your data is sitting in an ordinary SQLite file you already own.
Why 10 users? What if my team is bigger?
Honesty first: 10 is not where the software falls over. It’s where we promise the experience stays excellent. You can have as many team members as you like on the roster (on tickets, being scheduled), and 10 of them can hold sign-ins at a time. Someone marked Inactive when they leave does not use a seat. Technically the server would keep running with more, but past 10 people the day-to-day starts to dull (more data on every board, more people in every ticket) and we’d rather cap where we’re proud than sell you a shrug. If you’re a bigger shop and you want TINYpsa anyway, email us. That conversation is exactly the customer input our roadmap runs on.
How do new features reach me?
Through the app’s own updates, at no extra cost. Your license covers the major version you bought, and every bug fix and new feature we add to it reaches you by itself. Everything we have shipped since launch went out that way. A future major version may be offered as a separate upgrade, at a discount for license holders.
Buying, Activating, Moving
What happens when my trial ends?
TINYpsa locks with a friendly screen and your data is untouched. Buy a license, go through the activation, and you’re exactly where you left off. The trial is the full product for 30 days, every feature included, no card required.
How does activation work?
You buy, get a license key by email, then paste it into TINYpsa once, on the first screen or any time later under Setup, License. It checks the key online at activation, then quietly re-checks at startup and once a day when it happens to be online. Being offline never affects anything: a check that cannot run is simply skipped. There’s no account to create.
How do updates reach me?
By themselves. TINYpsa checks for a new version about 15 seconds after it starts and every four hours after that. When one is ready it downloads in the background and the tray icon offers Restart to install. If you never get round to it, the update installs the next time you quit. Your data folder is never touched by an update, and each new version brings your database forward on its first launch.
I got a new computer. Now what?
Four steps, about five minutes.
1. On the old computer, take a fresh backup. Navigate to: Setup > Backup > Back Up Now, pointed at a folder the new computer can reach (a OneDrive or Dropbox folder is perfect). If you already run automatic backups, you have this covered.
2. Free up your license key. Still on the old computer: click Deactivate License under Setup > License. If the old computer is dead and you can’t click anything, skip this and email us at support@myTINYpsa.com. We’ll free the key from our side.
3. On the new computer, install TINYpsa and activate with that same key.
4. Bring your data back. Setup > Backup > Restore from a backup, point it at the backup folder from step 1, click Restore, then quit TINYpsa from the tray and open it again.
Everything comes back exactly as you left it: tickets, files, branding, sign-ins, everything. The new computer has its own network address, so send your team the new one from Setup, Team. If you use the Secure Connection, each teammate imports the new certificate once.
Does TINYpsa need the internet?
Only for a few small things. Activating your license. A quiet check for updates about 15 seconds after launch and every four hours after that. A daily re-check of your license. And the optional email and scheduling features you choose to connect, which talk directly to your own mail or Microsoft 365 account. Everything else runs entirely on your machine and keeps working while you’re offline, and none of those checks ever blocks you. The secure connection between your team’s computers needs no internet at all.
What’s your refund policy?
The 30-day trial exists so you never have to buy blind. If you bought and something’s genuinely wrong that we can’t fix, email us within 14 days and we’ll make it right.
Email & Scheduling
Which email providers work for email-to-ticket?
Any mailbox that speaks IMAP: Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, and most others, using an app password if the account has multi-factor authentication. Or a Microsoft 365 shared mailbox through Microsoft Graph. You do not need Microsoft 365. Replies you send from a ticket go out through the same mailbox. Connect as many mailboxes of either kind as you need.
What does Client Self-Scheduling need?
A Microsoft 365 account with Microsoft Bookings, and an app registration that you or your Microsoft admin grant consent for. Setup inside TINYpsa walks you through it step by step. Once it is on, a client booking a slot on your Bookings page lands in TINYpsa as a scheduled ticket. Calendar sync is the other half: a ticket you schedule blocks that time on the assigned person’s Microsoft 365 calendar, so your booking page stops offering it. Both are included in every license.
Support
How do I get support?
Email us at support@myTINYpsa.com. Help with buying, installing, and activating is always free. Beyond that, the documentation built into TINYpsa is thorough, and we answer every email on a best-effort basis.
Data & Trust
Where does my data live?
Everything lives locally on your own machine, never in the cloud. Your records sit in one SQLite database (data.sqlite) in TINYpsa’s data folder, with your attachments, branding and a few small settings files beside it. On Windows you will find it at C:\TINYpsa\data, and on a Mac at /Users/Shared/TINYpsa/data. Both are ordinary folders you can open in File Explorer or Finder, no hidden system directories to hunt through. That folder is left alone when you uninstall, so reinstalling keeps everything, and to start completely fresh you just delete it. Back it up like any other file, or let TINYpsa’s built-in backups do it on a schedule under Setup, Backup, which also warn you if they ever go stale.
What happens to my data if Tuned MSP LLC (us, the developer) disappears?
Nothing. The app doesn’t need us to run, the license doesn’t expire, and SQLite is an open format a thousand tools can read. That’s the point of local-first: your business never depends on our uptime, or our existence.
Is there DRM? A license server I depend on?
No DRM. The app checks your key at activation and trusts you from there. A quiet re-check now and then only acts on a clear answer, such as a key that was refunded. Being offline, or our license provider being down, never changes anything. We’d rather build software worth paying for than software that treats you like a suspect.
How do my teammates sign in?
Everyone has their own password, and nobody gets in without one. Add a teammate under Setup, Team and click Invite. They get an email with a link to choose their own password, which works once and expires in 7 days. No outgoing email set up? Create invite link gives you the same link to hand over yourself. Passwords are never emailed.
Can I control what each teammate sees?
Yes. Under Setup, Team, each person has a Permissions button with a Read box and an Edit box for every section of the sidebar. Anything unticked leaves their menu, and TINYpsa refuses it even if they type the address. New team members start with everything except Setup and Field Settings. Team, Backup and License always stay with the Owners, and you can have more than one Owner.
Is the connection between our computers encrypted?
It can be. Turn on Secure Connection under Setup, Team and TINYpsa answers at an https address as well as the plain one, so a teammate’s password and everything they look at stays private on your network. TINYpsa makes its own certificate. Each computer trusts it once, and the Documentation has click-by-click steps for Mac, Windows, Firefox, iPhone and Android. The plain address keeps working the whole time, so nobody is locked out while they set it up.
